With great partners, Opin Kerfi is building a sustainable, free-cooling, Tier III state-of-the-art data centre at a prime location in Reykjavik City. The data centre will become one of the most technologically advanced data centres in Iceland, covering up to 5,000 square metres when fully developed. The first building stage is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2019. The first major customer will be the IT Service Center for the Icelandic Financial Market (RB), which will make the new facility its primary data centre. RB is owned by Icelandic financial institutions and operates all the key core banking systems and clearing and payments systems in Iceland. The data centre will be designed to fulfil the stringent security and redundancy requirements that come with hosting core banking and clearing systems. The construction of the data centre strengthens Iceland as a location for overseas data centre operations, cross-continental connections and Opin Kerfi as a valued IT partner.
